I love T.V. LOVE it. New, old, obscure, popular. It's a real problem. So I decided I needed to share some of my favorite older T.V. shows, since I know most people have never even heard of them, and they are absolute gems. So many people assume they won't be funny because they're old but that is the opposite of true. There are plenty of awfully written shows on air today, let me tell you (*cough* ABC *cough*). At least give one of them a shot.
And please let me know if you find any you like! I'd love to hear.

7 Oldies But Goodies
1. "Murphy Brown"
starring
Candice Bergen
10 seasons
1988-98
10 seasons. That has to signify something, am I right? Murphy Brown is a comedy based on the newsroom in which main character Murphy Brown is the star. The show was famous for its political satire and witty writing. Murphy is a recovering alcoholic with a rough exterior, which she plays off her of her fellow newsmen.
2. "Mad About You"
starring
Helen Hunt & Paul Reiser
7 seasons
1992-99
This show is one of my all time favorites. A comedy, kind of a mix between Friends and Seinfeld, Mad About You follows the married life of Jamie and Paul Buchman. It finds humor in the everyday life of a married couple living in New York City with overbearing in-laws and friends that are over more than they should be.
3. "Gidget"
starring
Sally Field
1 season
1965-66
Sally Field at her finest. I was devastated when I found out there was only 1 season of this show. It's so heartwarming and she's so charming. Gidget lives in California with her father, surfs everyday, and has to navigate through the ups and downs of girlhood, high school, and boys all with her best friend Larue. One of the best.
4. "Dharma & Greg"
starring
Jenna Elfman & Thomas Gibson
5 seasons
1997-2002
I must have a thing for shows starring couples. Dharma & Greg is about Dharma and Greg, a free-spirited hippy and a straight laced lawyer who met and fell in love one day on the Subway. Their dysfunctional families trying to find some common ground leads to another of my favorite comedies.
5. "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"
starring
Mary Tyler Moore
7 seasons
1970-77
I think this show is one of the best written in all of television history, and trust me, I've been watching shows from every decade for most of my life. You'll never get better, genuine, more well constructed humor (that doesn't resort to sexual innuendos, I might add) than MTM. Ed Asner as Mary's newsroom boss "Lou", Ted Knight as the dim-witted newscaster "Ted", and Gavin MacLeod as Mary's writer friend, "Murray", are the most hilarious trio. It's brilliant.
6. "Wings"
starring
Tim Daly & Steven Weber
8 seasons
1990-97
Wings is about a brother duo who own a small airline together on Nantucket island and their friends and coworkers. Naturally, they've got numskulls and chaos like every other show, but again, it's really well written. Lots of sarcasm and dry humor, which happen to be my favorite.
7. "Northern Exposure"
starring
Rob Morrow
6 seasons
1990-95
Northern Exposure has a more unusual plot line, about Dr. Joel Fleischman, a New Yorker who is forced to serve as the sole town physician in Cicely, Alaska by his practice. This city boy has a rough time acclimating to the wild wilderness and the people who inhabit it.
